News from Administration

January was certainly a busy month!  We rang in the New Year with new sessions of Tumbletrain and Tiny Feet.  We enjoyed our Crazy Hat Day on January 15th and National Preschool Fitness Day on the 23rd!  It was fun for all!

The Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten classes went to Big Y for a field trip.  They enjoyed making pizza (and eating it) as well as making a cookie to take home. They also got to take a tour of Big Y, which included going into the freezer and getting to touch a live lobster from the lobster tank!

This month we are looking to be just as busy with all the activities going on.  We certainly hope the temperature outside will be a little warmer.

School Holidays

We will be closed on President’s Day, February 16th.  The public schools are closed Monday, February 16th and Tuesday, February 17th.  Please let us know if your child will need care on Tuesday, February 17th.

Kids Say the Cutest Things

Ben (4B): While playing with the doctor set, Ben took a friend’s temperature and then said, “Oh no, look! His temperature is sad!”

Gavin and Harsha (4B):  Gavin asked Harsha, “Are there muscles in that shirt?” Harsha replied, “No just elbows!”

Family of the Month – The Luby Family

We are excited to introduce our Family of the Month, the Luby Family; Bill, Josephine, Kaelyn and Teagan!  Kaelyn is currently in our 4B classroom and has been with us since the Infant Room.  Teagan is in our 3A classroom and has also been with us since our Infant Program.  Kaelyn’s favorite thing to do is go in the pool and her favorite color is purple!  At Child’s World Academy she enjoys going on the computers and playing with toys!  Teagan enjoys playing with toy snowmen and has two favorite colors, pink and purple.  Her favorite thing to do at Child’s World Academy is “paint art”!  We love these two beautiful, silly and super smart girls!  Thank you Bill and Josephine for being a part of our family!

Featured Employee – Lisa Martin (Director)

We’d like to congratulate our Director, Lisa Martin, on 18 years of dedicated service to Child’s World Academy.  Lisa lives in Bridgeport with her husband and three children. Her husband works in Stamford at Encompass Digital Media, a satellite earth station.  Her oldest, Spenser, works for us during college breaks.  He attends Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA.  Her son, Sebastian, is a freshman at Fairchild Wheeler Magnet High in Bridgeport and her daughter, Olivia is in third grade at Discovery Magnet in Bridgeport.  Lisa is active with the youth group at her church and teaches second grade religious education.  Lisa and her husband are from Western Massachusetts.  She attended Lesley College in Cambridge, MA and received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Lisa lived in Vermont for about six years and moved to Bridgeport in October 1996. Lisa enjoys coming to work every day as each day has something new to offer.  She has seen so many children grow up over the years and has had the opportunity to hire and train several staff members that attended here as children. Lisa strongly believes that good educational and social experiences in the early years are very important.  Children need to feel loved and cared for, taught independence and social skills and be educated in a loving, caring environment.
