Math is one of those things that most kids (and adults for that matter) groan about, but having a good understanding of math will benefit your child in so many ways! Because math isn’t exactly a thrill ride, it can make it difficult to motivate your kids to learn it. Child’s World Academy is a different kind of day care center in Cortlandt Manor. We don’t just watch your kids and send them on their way, we believe that every child needs a well-rounded educational foundation to build off of. That is why our child care experts have come up with the following tips for getting your kids excited about math:
- Play games – There are so many games out there that involve math, including Monopoly, Yahtzee, dominoes and even Hopscotch. Learning from a game is a lot more fun than learning in a classroom, and playing games will also give you the opportunity to spend some quality time with your child!
- Math apps – Many parents are wary of letting their kids play with tablets, and while we don’t encourage you to let your child play with a tablet all of the time, there are many educational games out there that they can benefit from.
- Activity books – Activity books are full of fun ways for your child to practice recognizing numbers, recognizing patterns and even counting, plus they are a great way to keep your child busy on rainy afternoons!
We all rely on math each and every day, and if you want to encourage your child to learn it, you have to make it fun! Stay tuned for our next blog to learn about more things you can do to make math exciting.
