News from Administration

October was a very busy month! We enjoyed “Bring Your Teddy Bear to School Day” on the 10th, as well as “World Smile Day” on the 6th.  We also had a Pumpkin Decorating Contest between all of our classrooms and celebrated Family History Month.  If you have yet to contribute a leaf to our Family Tree in the lobby, please stop by the front desk to pick one up!   On October 31st, we had our Fall Festival parties and parade. Everyone looked wonderful!  Thank you to all who contributed to our parties.

We enjoyed a visit from a fire truck on October 23rd.  Thank you to the Stepney Fire Department for sending the volunteers!  It was great to hear the children talking about stop, drop and roll as well as calling 9-1-1 in case of a fire.

The Pre-K and Kindergarten classes had their annual field trip to Benedict’s Farm in Monroe on October 24th.  They enjoyed a hay ride, playing in the hay maze and seeing the animals.

We celebrated “National Pizza Month” all month long with weekly raffles of free pizza.   Congratulations to Baileigh’s Family in Twaddler B, Norah’s Family in Twaddler A, Jackson’s Family in Twaddler B and Cameron and Ryan’s Family in 3B and School Age!  Our older children also made English Muffin Pizzas on the 13th.

Gobble, gobble, gobble!  November is here…a time for family, friends and food!  Speaking of food, please contribute to our annual Food Drive.  There will be a box for donations in the front lobby.  All the food will go to the Monroe Food Pantry. Anything you can contribute is needed and very much appreciated.  Information will be sent out shortly.  Towards the end of the month, we will start our collection for Toys for Tots.   We will also have tags for the Monroe Giving Tree.  This is sponsored by the Monroe Women’s Club and the gifts will go to Monroe residents in need.

Conferences and Brigance Screening

This month, we will be having conferences for all ages (these are optional).  There will be sign up sheets on the doors.  In our Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten classes, your child’s teacher will be meeting with you to discuss the Brigance Screening.  This is a screening to see what your child already knows.  We can then focus our attention on areas that your child needs to work on during the school year. Overall, our children do very well on this screening! We will do the Brigance Screening again in the spring and we’ll hold conferences again at that time.
