#3. Be an example!

Parents learn a lot from their parents, and if you are a sore winner or loser, your child is likely to be one as well. Not only does this rule apply to you when you play games, but it is also important to be a good fan when you are watching other people play. Although it’s fun to get caught up in professional sports, pay close attention to how you react to things.

#4. Play age appropriate games.

Letting your kids win all the time sets a bad precedent, but if you aren’t going to just let them win, then you need to make sure that you play games with them that they could potentially win. Kids need to learn that in order to do well at something, they have to put in the work, and if you just let them win all of the time, it sends the wrong message.

#5. Look to the pros.

If your child looks up to a professional, do some research to find out what their victories and failures are. It is important for your child to understand that even people that are great at what they do have to overcome obstacles and failures to get there.
