Although safety standards have improved dramatically, toy-related injuries are still a big problem in the United States.
Over the past ten years, children’s toys have become a whole lot safer than they’ve ever been before. However, toy-related injuries are a still a big problem, so it’s important for you to be mindful when you are shopping for holiday gifts this year. That’s why, in our last blog, our day care center in Cortlandt Manor went over a few tips for buying safe toys for your kids. Today, our child care experts will be giving you a few more helpful tips:
#4. Be careful when shopping for gifts online.
Unfortunately, some websites don’t list all of the pertinent product and safety information, which means that your information might be limited when you purchase products online. You can still purchase online, just make sure to thoroughly read labels and inspect the toys before you give them to your kids.
#5. Keep the ages of all of your kids in mind while buying gifts.
A toy that might be appropriate for your nine-year-old won’t necessarily be safe for your two-year-old. If the toy in question gets into the wrong hands, it could create a safety hazard. Either buy age-appropriate toys that all of your kids can use or have a talk with your older kids about keeping their toys away from their younger siblings.
#6. Take all warning labels seriously.
There are warning labels on almost everything nowadays, and most of us just ignore them. Those warning labels are there for a reason, so make sure that you heed them.
