It is no secret that childhood obesity is a big problem here in the United States. Obesity is so much more than just about how a child looks, it is a real health issue. Kids that are obese or overweight are much more likely to develop Diabetes, along with a wide variety of other health problems down the road. One of the best ways to combat childhood obesity is to keep your kids active. At Child’s World Academy, we are dedicated to helping you to raise healthy, happy kids, but we also understand how much of a challenge it can be to keep your kids active during the winter. That is why our day care center in Peekskill has come up with these tips for keeping your kids active when it’s cold out:
- Take advantage of indoor facilities- There are plenty of ways that your child can have fun and play indoors. A great place to start is with your local rec center. Many of them have fun indoor activities for your child to get involved with. Whether they decide to dance, play a sport or go swimming, your child will be engaging in more physical activity, which is always a plus.
- Play outside- It’s cold out, so you may not be able to play soccer or football, but there is a huge list of winter activities that your child will love to enjoy, including sledding, snowboarding, skiing, snow shoeing and so much more!
These are just a couple of things that you can do to keep your child active throughout the winter months. Learn more when you stay tuned for our next child care blog.
