Is your child a holy terror at home, but you hear all the time from your daycare center in Fairfield about what an angel they are? It is not uncommon for kids to behave better for other people, and there are many reasons as to why this might be happening. When you understand why your child is having behavioral issues at home, you can treat the problem at its source! So, without further ado, the following is a list from our child care experts of some of the many reasons for why your child is behaving better for others:
- They are more comfortable with you – One of the biggest reasons for a child misbehaving at home is that they feel comfortable enough to do so! In this case, your child probably feels pressured and slightly uncomfortable at daycare, this is especially true if your child is new to daycare, and they feel like they can “let their hair down” when they come home. It’s good that your child feels comfortable with you, however, it is also important to put up clear-cut boundaries and rules.
- They crave the responsibility – When your child is at day care, they have certain responsibilities. Children feel powerless the majority of the time, and a small amount of responsibility will go a long way to calming their behavior at home. Have them help you with the dishes or task them with keeping the living room clean.
